The Pink Panther is the 1963 comedy that was the first film in the Pink Panther movie series and introduced Peter Sellers in the role of Inspector Jacques Clouseau. The film was directed by Blake Edwards and followed a pair of jewel thieves who attempt to steal the largest diamond in the world, aka the "Pink Panther". During their attempted heist, they find themselves having to avoid the authorities, one of which is the bumbling Inspector Clouseau. While not the main character of this film, Inspector Clouseau proved to be very popular, and led to four more films with Sellers returning as Clouseau in the lead in addition to three more sequels in the series. A "reboot" of The Pink Panther starring Steve Martin as Clouseau was released in 2006.
