The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (Priklyucheniya Sherloka Holmsa i doktora Vatsona)
|
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (Priklyucheniya Sherloka Holmsa i doktora Vatsona) is a Soviet 1980 mini-series, the second part of 1979-1987 TV series Priklyucheniya Sherloka Holmsa i doktora Vatsona, a screen adaptation of a number of Arthur Conan Doyle's novels and stories, directed by Igor Maslennikov and starring Vasily Livanov as Sherlock Holmes and Vitaly Solomin as Dr. Watson. It contains three feature-length episodes: "The King of Blackmail" ("Korol shantazha"), based on The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton; "The Deadly Fight" ("Smertelnaya skhvatka"), based on The Final Problem; and "The Hunt for the Tiger" ("Okhota na tigra"), based on The Adventure of the Empty House.
The following weapons were used in the film The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (Priklyucheniya Sherloka Holmsa i doktora Vatsona):
Revolvers
British Constabulary revolver
Like in the first part, a Belgian copy of Webley RIC revolver known as "British Constabulary" is used by Sherlock Holmes (Vasily Livanov). Same revolver is also briefly seen in hands of Inspector Lestrade in "The Hunt for the Tiger" episode.
Webley Bulldog
A Webley Bulldog revolver (most likely a Belgian copy) is seen in Sherlock Holmes' handbag in "The King of Blackmail". Possibly same revolver is briefly seen in "The Deadly Fight".
Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action
Both Sherlock Holmes (Vasily Livanov) and Dr. Watson (Vitaly Solomin) use a Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action revolver (most likely not original S&W but a European, possibly Spanish clone) in "The King of Blackmail" and "The Deadly Fight".
Lefaucheux revolver
Charles Augustus Milverton (Boris Ryzhukhin) is armed with a Lefaucheux revolver in "The King of Blackmail".
Smith & Wesson Military & Police
In "The Hunt for the Tiger" several police constables are armed with Smith & Wesson Military & Police revolvers. The revolvers have pre-Model 10 rounded front sights.

Smith & Wesson 4th Model
What appears to be a Smith & Wesson 4th Model revolver is used by lady Huxley (Valentina Panina) in "The King of Blackmail".
Rifles and Muskets
Marlin Model 1889
Colonel Sebastian Moran (Nikolai Kryukov) is armed with Marlin Model 1889 in the scene at the Reichenbach Falls in "The Deadly Fight" (seen again as a flashback in "The Hunt for the Tiger").
Sporterized Vetterli Model 1869/70
In the "The Hunt for the Tiger" Colonel Sebastian Moran (Nikolai Kryukov) uses the weapon that is described as "specially designed airgun". The screen gun appears to be a Vetterli Model 1869/70 rifle in the sporterized configuration, with the handguard shortcut for most of its length, retain the original 11-shot tube magazine, and slightly shortened barrel. Probably the same gun is seen in The Last Hunt (Poslednyaya okhota), filmed by the studio and same year.
Percussion Cap Musket
A percussion cap hunting musket is seen in final scenes of "The Deadly Fight". The gun has military style sights, so it is supposed to be a converted military gun, possibly Enfield Pattern 1853.
