Wonky Berets

Is it me, or does nobody in this show know the proper way to wear a beret? The U.S.A.F. Sergeant in "Tomorrow is Yesterday" had his beret on sideways (he should have had it with the insignia facing forward, not to the side) and that one girl from "Patterns of Force" looked like her beret was on the brink of falling off her head altogether! In 1962 only SAC wore berets in the US Air Force. The SAC shield was worn over the left temple on about 90% of the SAC teams so it cane be correct for the time period. The standard on wearing the insignia over the left eye facing forward was not established until 1961 for the US Army Special Forces. The wearing the insignia on the side was used by non-SF units through the 70's until a standard was adopted for SF, Ranger and Airborne units. When that beret was adopted for use Army wide they took the 1960 SF instructions and replace the flash on the pamphlet with the US Army flash. - Steve

Stag Grips

I thought the stag grips on USAF-issue revolvers was just the armorers using what they had on hand, but apparently, the USAF issued stag-gripped revolvers.
