It would appear that the sniper rifle in the movie was probably an Enfield Enforcer (or a mock-up to look like one), not an L42A1. The Enforcer was the police sniper, the L42A1 was the British Army sniper rifle. The scope and the front sight in the photos look wrong for an L42A1, but may be right for an Enforcer.
