AN-M64 GP500 Bomb

The American AN-M64 GP500 Bomb is seen being prepared.

Discussion

The Japanese fire 20mm AA guns at the bomber planes when they bomb factories and they are clearly acetylene firing guns. - Gunmaster45

30 round magazines for m1928 Thompson?

Is this true that the 30 round magazine didn't come about until the M1A1? That doesn't seem accurate. --Ben41 02:00, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Yep, it's true. Before that, only the drums and the 20-rounders were available. The 30-rounder was introduced specifically for the military M1 and M1A1 models. -MT2008 02:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned image

I took out the picture below from the main article. I realized as I was researching the Type 99 cannon online that the guns in the picture didn't look anything like Type 99s, and they didn't look like Type 97 either. The placement would've been wrong for Type 97s as well. You can compare for yourself [1] --funkychinaman 07:32, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

I think they're meant to be the 7.7mm Type 97-03 Machine Guns as seen here under "armament" [2] --Ben41 10:59, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

The 7.7mm MGs are mounted in the nose, firing through the propeller arch via synchronizer. If these were the 7.7mm MGs, you wouldn't be able to see them like this. --funkychinaman 11:33, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry that it's only a painting, but it's the best view that I could find. Those bulges in front of the cockpit are the Type 97s. As you can see, they can't be the guns in the picture. [3] --funkychinaman 12:50, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Here's another one, you can see how the engine cowling has been fitted around the installation of the guns. This is a late model A6M7, it has extra cannons in the wings. [4] --funkychinaman 12:55, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Since this is a Michael Bay film, it's obvious that they didn't actually put a camera in front of a real Zero to get this shot. It's probably a helicopter shot with a some prop machine gun barrels put in front of the camera. --Ben41 20:35, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

If you're going to lock the page, at least put in that not only is the propeller missing, but also the engine and cowling. --funkychinaman 23:06, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

BF-109 armament

Only BF-109Gs were upgraded to MG131 MGs. Most BF-109s, including the "Emils" (BF-109Es) that were used during the Battle of Britain used the MG17 in the cowling, and MG17s or MG FFs cannons in the wings. [5] [6] --funkychinaman 23:32, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

What anout the Chinese Soldeirs?? They had rifles

It's true that the Chinese soldiers were waving rifles near the end of the film, but they are too far away and the scene itself is too dark to properly identify what kind of rifles they Chinese soldiers had. --ThatoneguyJosh 23:23, 27 March 2011 (CDT)

5"/38 guns

I was trying to get a cap of the guns on the Lexington off of a clip on Youtube, at least as a placeholder, but I don't see them. See here. There's an nice panning shot of the Lexington towards the end, but the guns aren't there. Furthermore, if the date on this image is to be believed, the guns were installed post 2004 at the earliest. --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:17, 27 February 2018 (EST)

This shot from 2006 doesn't show them either, but this one from 2008 does. So I don't think think the guns were in place when the movie was shot. --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:22, 27 February 2018 (EST)
The USS Des Moines wikipedia page cited a press release from the Lexington museum about getting the guns. The link is dead, but the file is called "10march2008.pdf". --Funkychinaman (talk) 09:31, 27 February 2018 (EST)
Eh, guess I misremembered that scene. I do recall you see her 40mm guns during the Doolittle Raid sequence, and someone loads something that's presumably either one of Lexington's heavy AA guns or one of Texas' casemates. I'm thinking of just Youtube-renting it to get some more caps, the ones for The Final Countdown turned out nicely enough. Evil Tim (talk) 12:12, 27 February 2018 (EST)
I googled images of the Des Moines as she went to the scrapyard, and she had all six 5" turrets as of 2006. I only rewatched the Japanese launch scene above. It reminded me how beautifully shot the movie was. It's the most beautiful yet shitty movie ever. --Funkychinaman (talk) 12:33, 27 February 2018 (EST)

Going to get some shots for this

HOWEVER, the version up on Youtube (as in the legal rental version) is 16:9 rather than 2.39:1, so anyone with a movie aspect ratio version is welcome to replace them when I do. I'll list the timestamps for the shots below. Evil Tim (talk) 03:36, 13 March 2018 (EDT)
