Custom build?

The CAR-15 from episode 3 later appears in episode 14. I didn't realize until then that it had a full stock, but a carbine-length barrel. Is this a factory configuration or just a hybrid, mating a full sized and stocked lower with a carbine upper?

Major Duvall with a CAR-15 in "Holograms" (S01E03).
Max with his carbine in "Spy" (S01E14). Note the compensator/muzzle brake.
A good shot of the receiver as Max returns fire in "Spy" (S01E14). Note the lack of fencing, the forward assist, and the occluded eye gunsight.
Max returns fire in "Spy" (S01E14). Note the full shoulder stock, but short barrel.
A good shot of the entire length of the carbine in "Spy" (S01E14).
I'd say the base gun is likely a Sporter-II Carbine (given the A1 upper and slab side lower) just fitted with the fixed stock - Could have done by the armorer/weapons master certainly though I'm pretty sure you could order them that way from the factory. That barrel is the hokier part to me and that part was probably totally custom, kind of an odd looking cut for the flash hider on that mock XM-style moderator - Reminds me a lot of the custom CAR/XM177 mockup in Casualties of War (On an unrelated note, though the gun in that film is listed as being a Sporter II Carbine I think that one was NOT that and rather a custom build/hybrid gun because it had an A1 upper and lower, but that's another thing). If it was a Sporter II, it'd involve cutting down the barrel too. That's why I would've thought it'd be just easier to mate an M16 lower with an CAR-15/SMG upper. The flash hider/muzzle brake looks like an AK-74 muzzle brake, although I know it can't be. --Funkychinaman (talk) 13:04, 11 August 2015 (EDT)
