Trailer-exclusive weapons

XM8

The XM8 was seen being utilized by the soldiers that would eventually become Desperado Enforcement LLC. in the VGA 2011 trailer.

Beretta 92

The Beretta 92, or a similar handgun, was briefly seen in the "Sword" trailer of the "Make It Right" Viral Marketing site for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, back in the leadup to E3 2012. In Raiden's PTSD-induced flashback to Liberia shortly after his surgery, Raiden, then a child, witnessed one of Solidus' high-ranking officers, an African man, interrogating a soldier. He pointed the handgun at the soldier while threatening to kill his family.

Name change

Name has to be changed, the title is Metal Gear Rising: Revengance.Kornflakes89 19:00, 2 April 2012 (CDT)

Done. Spartan198 22:38, 2 April 2012 (CDT)
Yeeesh. I hate that we have a title with a BS word. I know it's in the "urban dictionary" but it's still a bullshit word. Doesn't exist. MoviePropMaster2008
Actually, revengeance is in the dictionary, so it does exist. --SmithandWesson36 18:06, 11 June 2012 (CDT)
It's listed as obscure, i.e. slang or unused usage. The word is not actually used but it is listed because tons of illiterate philistines used it. I know. I cringed when the dictionaries actually caved in a listed "irregardless" as a real word even though etymologically it is a double negative (i.e. without without regard to). So the dictionaries 'change' because too many rubes misuse the words. The fact that all the major Dictionaries try to be 'relevant' by adding ridiculous slang words every year, made me completely lose respect for them as gatekeepers of the language. I cringe at the very real possibility that people like the Jersey Shore troupe can create new entries into the English Lexicon and will be vaunted words in future generations. MoviePropMaster2008 01:33, 12 June 2012 (CDT)
Actually, I think it might be obscure because it's an old word that isn't used anymore. I have honestly never heard anyone say this word, as it seems kind of redundant, revenge and vengeance are the same thing, and because I think it is too big of a word for today's generation of slang which serves to shorten words into short, nonsensical grunts that will help rappers rhyme words that normally have completely different sounds, but that's just my opinion. I do agree with you, however, that the dictionary including slang is ridiculous, but in some ways, it does make sense. The Americanized English language has changed a lot since the 1700s, after all, it would be weird if British words like bonnet defining a car's hood showed up in a modern American dictionary. --SmithandWesson36 23:56, 12 July 2012 (CDT)
I guess they wanted a word that was like double revenge or something. So in this game Raiden will get angerous and fistpunch the leaderenemyboss. Evil Tim (talk) 08:12, 23 September 2012 (EDT)

New additions.

Hi.

Can we add some things to this article?

Namely, we'll need the regular Browning machine gun's screenshot from the VGA 2011 trailer, as well as a new section pertaining to that rocket launcher that Raiden was using in the E3 trailer, and any other weapons that appeared in it. Pokeria1 08:46, 11 June 2012 (CDT)

Here's the rocket launcher I was referring to, BTW: http://images.wikia.com/metalgear/images/0/05/601258_399699430073806_81711618_n.jpg Pokeria1 14:59, 12 July 2012 (CDT)

Sigh, look guys, it's been almost a year since we actually updated the page with weapons that appeared. Can someone PLEASE update the page already? This is getting ridiculous, as we not only have that missile launcher that Raiden briefly used in the E3 trailer, but also some RPG-7 like weapons in one of the gameplay videos for TGS 2012. I thought the point of the site was to update as soon as new weapons are discovered, so what's taking so long. I'd do it myself, but I can't actually identify the weapons. Pokeria1 (talk) 08:01, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
If you don't know what they are you can put images of them here and ask, or even put them on the main page labelled as "unknown (weapon type)." The site doesn't update automatically, and in general users will have things they're working on already. Evil Tim (talk) 08:10, 23 September 2012 (EDT)

Handgun ID

Hi.

Can someone ID this handgun used in the Sword trailer, when that black soldier is threatening the soldier being interrogated during the flashback sequence?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njZNPSwJBV0&feature=player_embedded

It's about :29 seconds in. Sorry if it's bad quality, but it's the best I could find.

Pokeria1 (talk) 22:16, 25 January 2013 (EST)

Bit blurry, but it looks like a Beretta 92 or some imitation thereof. Evil Tim (talk) 22:25, 24 February 2013 (EST)
Well, I made sure I noted the appearance in the pistol section. It might not have been in the game itself, but since it is in the Sword trailer, which was a viral marketing site teaser for the game's showing at E3, it still qualifies as far as I know. Pokeria1 (talk) 08:38, 26 February 2013 (EST)
Eh, I don't think it's really worth noting, it's so blurry you can't really tell what model of 92 it actually is. Plus standard is to put live-action trailer stuff on talk pages. Evil Tim (talk) 09:41, 26 February 2013 (EST)

This game win the Iron E!

Because, while an American RPG-7 exist and having even a successor in 2015 (GS-777) it didnt seen a wordlwide popularity. --Dannyguns (talk) 07:07, 19 December 2016 (EST)

Noted something

First in Sig Sauer pistol there are "Made in ...." writings. Can someone tell them? Second, why would Denver PD, use Russian (MAK-200 ingame) and Ukrainian (Hrad UG) gear? --Dannyguns (talk) 08:35, 20 December 2016 (EST)

Because it's what the developers wanted, simple as that :) Besides, it's a videogame, they can take whatever freedom they want but it saddens me that the people of today get offended over the most little things, during WWII there were mocking made up propaganda from each side and no-one complained.

Little bit off topic, sorry, but yeah moral of the story, don't give it much thought on the most trivial things Danny :)--Death Shadow20 (talk) 12:34, 20 December 2016 (EST) Lil update the Sig got "Made in Platinum". For the other, well I see tons of official page complaining that gun should not be here, the rifle there, etc. And even more in talk page. And well I known but that what wikis where made, for trivias and infos. Thank you. Death --Dannyguns (talk) 11:34, 21 December 2016 (EST)

We usually don't do it for fictional vehicles and weapons. The actual answer is because World Marshal (which runs the privatised Denver PD in the game's universe) is an international private military contractor rather than a US-based police force, they probably use Grads and Russian rifles because they're cheaper than whatever the US equivalent is. Desperado and Maverick both use the MAK-200 too, so it seems pretty widely available. Evil Tim (talk) 10:06, 23 December 2016 (EST)

Well even U.S. soldier use it (last chapter, one of the photos on internet) so is laziness. Case closed. --Dannyguns (talk) 14:05, 3 January 2017 (EST)
