Chamelot-Delvigne 1873

It certainly does look like a Chamelot-Delvigne 1873, and given how often they're used in movies I suspect it is one, but the barrel does look a little long. It might be an Italian Glistenti 1872 in 10.35mm, which is a Chamelot-Delvigne type, but given how rare they are I suspect its just a weird angle.

Streets of Laredo

It's too bad there's no page for that sequel. There's a couple of most unusual guns in it. First and foremost is a Model 1889 Schmidt-Rubin rifle that is used a German character sweet on Marian Garza (Sonia Brag) and then by Johnny Garza (Braga's son in the movie) who murders its owner to take it for himself on his killing spree. What I've read on this gun is that it didn't go into production until 1891, and while the year is never mentioned, Lonesome Dove begins in 1876 and ends in 1877; and the oldest of Pea Eye's and Laura's kids seem to be about 13 or 14, so the time frame would be right. How the guy who claimed to be "the best shot in the German Army" got this gun, and so quickly, is left unexplained. The other is a huge double barrel 8 gauge shotgun carried by Mr. Brookshier (Charlie Martin Smith) but only used by Pea Eye (Sam Sheppard) near the end of the movie.Harleyguy 09:00 16 February 2010
