I've seen a trailer for this and it only came out a few days ago in theaters (despite having debuted as an indipendent film in January). The "Norinco Type 84"

The rifle identified as a Norinco Type 84 is no such thing: It has a milled receiver, and if you look closely, the magazine is actually the black plastic "waffled" type. Additionally, it has a .5" AKM-style front sight instead of the hooded Chinese .75" sight. The furniture is also the wrong finish for the Type 84. I'm not sure what that AK is, but it looks to me like one of the Bulgarian Arsenal models. -MT2008 09:00, 4 December 2011 (CST)

AKMS + Beretta

I took the liberty to make two small revisions. First I added some info on the golden 'AKMS' (ckeck here for a cool picture of a real gold plated Iraqi 'Tabuk') and secondly I noticed that for good reason the prop version of the Beretta 92 is not a Bruni but more probably a Reck. If you take a look at the more clearer version of the poster (like this, for example) you should notice the milled receiver. That would make it AKS rather than AKMS. --Masterius 02:55, 25 December 2011 (CST)

Thanks for yor remark, I must admit I was not 100% sure but I just took the nomination of one real golden 'AK-47' variant from Iraq that has been on display here in Holland recently and that was referred to as an'AKMS'. I trust your judgement and I will revise accordingly.

But first, could you please explain the visual difference between 'milled' and 'stamped' receiver on these guns? My simple way is always looking at the flash hider to recognize AKS from AKMS but apparently there a difference on the receiver too that I am not aware of. Certainly. The distinguishing part of milled receiver is a large, rectangular-shaped cut for the purpose of weight reduction (lightening cut) above the magazine well. Whether the distinguishing part of stamped receiver is a small, more rounded dimple above the magazine well.[1]
