The Raid: Redemption, also known as simply The Raid, is a 2011 Indonesian action film directed by Gareth Evans and starring Iko Uwais as a member of a 20-man Detachment 88 police tactical team that must fight their way out of a criminal-infested apartment building after being trapped there by a vicious drug lord. The film made its North American debut at the Toronto Film Festival, and entered a wider release in early 2012. A sequel, The Raid 2, was released in 2014.
The making of the movie shows airsoft guns used as props in the movie. None of the firearms in this movie are real. The ejected shells and flashes were all added digitally.

Third-generation Glock 17 pistols are used by the Detachment 88 officers, including Rama (Iko Uwais).

Heckler & Koch HK416
Nearly all of the Detachment 88 operators use Heckler & Koch HK416 rifles with attached suppressors. These guns are in reality airsoft replicas of the 416 made by WE.

Since all gunfire was added digitally, actors had to simulate recoil. And since the stairwell shootout was shot in the dark, flashing lights were used to simulate muzzle flash.
Miscellanea
All the actors were sent to actor boot camp with KOPASKA, a frogman and UDT unit of the Indonesian Navy, to learn weapons handling and tactics.
