Piper Laurie (1932–2023) was an American actress who was well known for her roles in such feature films as The Hustler (1961), Carrie (1976), and Children of a Lesser God, all of three of which she received Academy Award nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. Also a recipient of a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award, Laurie was also known for her role as Catherine Martell in the ABC television series Twin Peaks. She passed away in October of 2023 at the age of 91.
