Jack Soo (1917-1979) as Colonel Cai in The Green Berets (1968)
Jack Soo (born Goro Suzuki) was a Japanese-American actor most famous for his role as Detective Nick Yemana on the American sitcom Barney Miller. Although he was forced to change his name to sound less Japanese, he refused to take stereotypical roles or demeaning roles, and along with his The Green Berets co-star George Takei, blazed a trail for Asian-American actors today. He passed away due to esophageal cancer halfway through the fifth season of Barney Miller.
