I do not believe this to be a Yugoslavian M-48-pattern Mauser. I actually own an M-48A myself, and I happen to know that all M-48 series rifles (that is the M-48, M-48A, and M-48B, with the possible exception of the mysterious M-48BO) have a hooded front sight. This appears to have some of the charcteristics of the M-48 series rifles (the steel butt-cap and stainless steel bolt) but it is also lacking some (the aformentioned front sight hood, as well as the bolt disassembly socket in the buttstock). It almost looks like a lengthened M-63 "Tanker's" Mauser, a design that was created purely for the Western market and never entered military service in Yugoslavia. However, I may be wrong, but I would have to see the crest to be sure. It could also be the M-98, which was basically a Kar.98k or Kar.98k/M42 that had been captured by or given to Yugoslavia and then given basically an arsenal refurbish by Crvena Zastava. I have never actually seen one of these so it could be that. I can provide a photo of my M-48A, but I do not really have the facilities to perform a white background shot such as this. I can perhaps take it with some sort of dropcloth in the back. Will this be acceptable.SAWGunner89 01:45, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
