Throughout the film, Dwayne Hoover (Bruce Willis), a popular but disturbed car dealership owner, unsuccessfully tries to commit suicide with a Colt Python. In Kurt Vonnegut's novel, Dwayne's handgun is specified as "a loaded thirty-eight caliber revolver."
