AQtion
|
AQtion is a first-person shooter game developed by A-Team, first released November 12, 1998 as a mod for Quake 2 under the name Action Quake 2. The mod, renamed to its current name and with modern improvements, was re-released on June 1, 2022 on Steam. The original mod was designed to create a semi-realistic depiction of gun handling and shooting, with its gameplay elements influencing later shooters such as Counter-Strike.
The following weapons appear in the video game AQtion:
Overview
AQtion features weapon options at spawn; when the player first spawns in the game, they receive a Heckler & Koch Mark 23 and a knife. Killing other players scores them higher on the leaderboard. At the start of a match, players have options to choose from to compliment their primary. These include suppressors and silent boots if they feel like they want to go stealthy, extra magazines if they want to top frag, a laser module if they want to get more accurate shots, or a Kevlar vest if they feel like they need to survive. Unlike the Counter-Strike series, weapons are not locked to factions.
Handguns
Heckler & Koch Mark 23
The Heckler & Koch Mark 23 appears in the game and makes the same firing sound as the USP in Counter-Strike. It can also be akimbo wielded as primaries.
Submachine Guns
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
A Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with a Navy fire control group appears mislabeled as an "MP5/10". It can be told apart from the 10mm variant by using curved magazines as opposed to the distinctive straight 10mm/.40 S&W magazines. It is select-fire in-game, with the ability to swap between full-auto and bursts, which would be correct for an MP5/10, but not for the MP5A3 which lacks a burst mode. The in-game burst feature is more accurate but with a noticeable delay between bursts.
Shotguns
Benelli M3 Super 90
The Benelli M3 Super 90 appears in the game as the "M3 Super 90 Assault Shotgun". It is fitted with a wooden foreend. It behaves like a typical shotgun in other video games, most comparable to the M3 in Counter-Strike, where it is very powerful at close range but with wide pellet spread causing inaccuracy and low damage at range.
Sawed-Off Double Barreled Shotgun
A Sawed-Off Double Barreled Shotgun in the game appears as the "Handcannon" due to it being sawed-off. Just like Doom II, it fires both shots at once and it's only effective at extreme close range, destroying anyone in its path if they are caught point-blank.
Sniper Rifles
SIG-Sauer SSG 3000
The SIG-Sauer SSG 3000 has almost the same exact role as the AWM in Counter-Strike, with the main difference being the scope having three different magnification modes- 2x, 4x, and 6x. It's a left handed bolt-action rifle but is shot right handed like in the original Counter-Strike. It is a one shot kill to the torso and head with Kevlar on and the 7.62x51mm NATO round it fires does not stop until it comes into contact with a wall. In game, the player character carries 20 rounds of spare ammunition in his reserve along with a six round magazine capacity. It is the most accurate gun in the game.
Assault Rifles
Colt M4A1
The Colt M4A1 appears as the "M4 Assault Rifle" and it also appears to be one of the few guns to not use Counter-Strike sounds, but what it does have from Counter-Strike is a floppy dust cover when firing and controls and many parts located to the left side of the rifle. It holds 24 rounds in a magazine and also has the same rate of fire as the MP5 but does as much damage as the Mark 23 and is also select-fire, with the incorrect capability two switch between full-auto and 3-round burst rather than full-auto and semi-auto. It can take down a fully armored opponent with two shots to the head.
