Yellowstone is a 2018 television series drama that is one of the first to premiere on the Paramount Network, the home formerly of SPIKE TV. The series stars Kevin Costner (in his very first weekly television series) as John Dutton, the patriarch of the Dutton family, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States and is in constant conflict with developers, Native Americans, as well as the US government, as his ranch is situated right up against Yellowstone National Park. Filmed in Montana and Utah, Yellowstone was co-created by Taylor Sheridan, the director/screenwriter responsible for such screenplays as Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River and who wrote and directed several episodes of the series. Yellowstone premiered on the Paramount Network on June 20, 2018 and in 2021, the prequel series 1883 was released on the streaming service Paramount+.
