The Way of the Gun (2000)

The firearms of "The Way of the Gun":

SPOILERS

IMI Galil ARM (7.62mm)

Mr. Longbaugh (Benicio del Toro) uses the Galil first as a sniper rifle fitted with a scope attached during the motel shootout and at the firefight at the brothel at the end of the film without the scope.

7.62mm NATO variant of the Galil hence the square magazine.

M1911 Colt Series 70 Pistols

Mr. Longbaugh (Benicio del Toro) and Mr. Parker (Ryan Phillippe) use Colt Series 70 Government Model pistols as their main handguns. Used throughout the movie. Unlike most films where handguns are "Mexican carried", they carry theirs in IWB holsters which is a much safer and smarter way to carry. The Colts used in the film are 9mm caliber noted by the tapered barrels and crimp indention in the magazines.

Good veiw of the IWB holster used by Longbaugh, Parker also uses one. Note that he carries it in "Condition One", chambered, hammer cocked, with the safety on.

Longbaugh does a brass check on his Colt. Not easy to do one handed and even harder weak hand.
Parker aims his M1911 Colt Series 70 Pistol.
Parker empties his Colt, note the tapered barrel meaning this is a 9mm Colt.
Several of Longbaugh's empty magazines, note the side crimp on the mags which helps feeding the smaller 9mm caliber better.

H&K USP

Taye Diggs as Jeffers and Nicky Katt as Obecks use the .40 S&W Heckler & Koch USPs as their main handguns.

Obecks points his H&K USP at Robin's belly. He continues to do so until Longbaugh and Parker start to leave he then takes his finger off the trigger to show that he means her no harm.
Jeffers aims his H&K USP at the Mexican Federales.
Jeffers fires his H&K USP.

Walther PPK/S

A Walther PPK/S is used by Dr. Painter (Dylan Kussman) to kill Jeffers in the whorehouse.

Parker grabs the PPK/S out of the bag before Dr. Painter gets a chance to. Longbaugh had already searched the bag, but chose not to take out the gun to prove to Parker that the doctor could not be trusted.
Longbaugh disassembles the PPK/S.
He tosses the disassembled gun back into the doctor's bag.

Taurus Model 85

Joe Sarno (James Caan) gathers a team of his old veteran 'enforcers' to take care of business. When they attack the whorehouse they carry the newest version of the Taurus Model 85s, with rubber grips in .38 Special.

Remington 870

Ryan Phillippe as Parker and Benicio del Toro as Longbaugh use a matte blued Remington 870 throughout the film. Used most by Parker.

Longbaugh lays down suppressing fire with the 870. After firing several more rounds the 870 stovepipes. Unlike most films that cut around a jammed gun, Longbaugh simply clears the jam and continues firing.

After diving into an empty fountain for cover, the bottom of the fountain ends up being riddled with glass.

Mossberg 590 Mariner

Taye Diggs as Jeffers uses a Mossberg 590 Mariner during the first car chase after Robin gets kidnapped by Parker and Longbaugh. Not to be confused with the more common Mossberg 500 Mariner.

Jeffers aims the Mossberg in the foreground. Note that he is holding it left handed. Although Taye Diggs is right handed, the weapons adviser for the film (a Navy SEAL) said that if you're using a building on your right as cover you would shoot left handed, which minimizes your body exposure and makes you less of a target.
Jeffers checks a room where he thought Parker went into after they got out of their SUV a second time. Note that he is still holding the gun left handed. While it wasn't necessary he continued to because he had gotten comfortable handling the shotgun this way.

Stoeger/IGA Coach Double Barreled 12 Gauge Shotgun

Parker and Longbaugh used an Stoeger/IGA Coach 12 gauge shotgun to set up a wired booby trap in their hotel room. Robin (Juliette Lewis) grabs the shotgun and turns the tables on them.

Colt Commander

Mr. Parker (Ryan Phillippe) uses what appears to be a Colt Commander as his offhand weapon when they first attempt to kidnap Robin (Juliette Lewis). He places the muzzle of the Colt Commander on Jeffers' (Taye Diggs) cheek.
