V: The Original Miniseries (1983)

V is the 1983 classic science fiction miniseries which originally aired over two nights on NBC. In the miniseries, an alien race, who come to be known as "The Visitors", lands on Earth with the promise of peace and prosperity for humanity. When the truth behind their arrival is uncovered, several humans then agree to form an underground resistance movement against the Visitors. The story was continued in the 1984 sequel miniseries (V: The Final Battle) and in a weekly format (V: The Series). The premise would be reimagined in a 2009 television remake that aired on ABC.

The following weapons were used in the miniseries V: The Original Miniseries:

M16

At the beginning of the miniseries, Mike Donovan (Marc Singer) is seen covering the war in El Salvador where rebels use M16 rifles against a government helicopter. Resistance fighters also use the M16 against the Visitor sky-fighters in the climax of the miniseries after they successfully raid a California National Guard armory under Visitor guard.

The original M16, the first version, firing in a 20-round magazine, adopted in large numbers by the U.S. Army in Vietnam. It would later be replaced by the upgraded M16A1 - 5.56mm

The Colt MK IV Series 70 is used by a rebel leader at the beginning to take down a government helicopter. Judging from the muzzle it appears to be chambered in 9mm which was more reliable with blanks at the time.
