MEOP standing for Musical Enlistment Optional Program.  This is a special program in the Marines where there are 12 bands and The President's own Drum and Bugle Corps.  I play the saxophone and hope to get into one of these bands.  I hope to do this for a couple years to see how I like it and if I want to change my MOS to anything different or stay in my original MOS.--[[User:MarineCorps1|MarineCorps1]] 04:50, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Poolie

A poolie is a future Marine waiting with a ship date to go to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Paris Island or San Diego. The Marine Corps offers a program called the DEP or Delayed Entry Program. This will give you a prescribed date for basic training. While in the DEP you will go to a weekly training program to get you ready for basic training. Members in the DEP are called "poolies" normally trained by Marines, Recruiters, or even Drill Intructors. The weekly training programs are mandatory for the poolie to join. While in the DEP program, you must have no police involvement or recieve any tattoos or piercings. You are allowed tattoos once you are a Marine, but until them you must have a clean record and no body tattoos or piercings of any kind. Their are acceptions to this rule, but I am unsure of these.--MarineCorps1 04:50, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
