The Two Jakes

The Two Jakes is the 1990 sequel to Chinatown. The followup film was directed by Jack Nicholson, who reprised his role as J.J. "Jake" Gittes. Many of the cast and crew of the first film return, including producer Robert Evans, writer Robert Towne, and Perry Lopez as Captain Lou Escobar. However, John Huston did not appear due to his passing in the interim and Chinatown director Roman Polanski, who had fled to Paris to escape criminal charges and still is wanted by American authorities. Towne had originally planned the film to be the middle film of a trilogy, but the poor critical and commercial reception to the film lead killed any plans for a third film. (Contrary to urban legend, the script of the planned third film did NOT become Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which had been released two years prior.) The film's cast included Madeleine Stowe, Meg Tilly, and Harvey Keitel.

Smith & Wesson Model 36
Jake Berman (Harvey Keitel) shoots Mark Bodine with a Smith & Wesson Model 36. Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) says it's described in the police report as a ".38 caliber Smith & Wesson Police Special with a two inch barrel." Since the movie takes place in 1948, an S&W 36 is an anachronism.
Colt Model 1903/1908
Michael "Mickey Nice" Weisskopf (Rubén Blades) carries a nickel-plated Colt Model 1903/1908.
Colt Police Positive
Detective Lieutenant Loach (David Keith) (son of Det. Loach from the first film) draws his Colt Police Positive during his fight with Gittes. Gittes later takes it away from him.
Mk 2 Hand Grenade
Mickey Nice has his henchman Liberty Levine (Paulie DiCocco) force a Mk 2 Hand Grenade into the hands of Jake Gittes and remove the pin.
