While The assault rifle used by lara appears to be an M4 due to the rounded barrel, the cocking mechanism is situated next to the breach on the left hand side of the gun, as the M4 is cocked on the top rear of the gun, this would suggest that the weapon is not an M4 but rather an HK416- a similar but superior modern version of the M4.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend (2006)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend is the 7th game in the Tomb Raider series and served as the franchise's first continuity reboot. Published by Eidos Interactive, developed by British-owned U.S. studio Crystal Dynamics. The PS2, Windows, Xbox, and Xbox 360 versions were released in Europe on 7 April 2006 and in North America on 11 April 2006. The North American PSP version was released on 20 June 2006, the Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS versions were released during November 2006 and the Mobile version was released in December 2006. The PS3 version was released in 2011.
