The New Mexico State Police use Colt Official Police revolvers.

Colt Official Police - .38 Special
Trooper Ed Blackburn (Chris Drake) unholsters his Colt Official Police and turns the light out so the unknown assailant (unknown to him, a giant ant) won't see him emerging from the room.
Blackburn prepares to meet his maker courtesy of giant mandibles.
Trooper Sergeant Peterson shoots at the ant.
Peterson comes to the conclusion his service revolver isn't doing much good.

Colt Detective Special

A Colt Detective Special is found by Sgt. Peterson in the destroyed camper at the beginning of the movie. FBI Agent Robert Graham (James Arness) shoots at an ant with a Colt Detective Special of his own later.

He does precisely that.

Submachine gun

M1928 Thompson

After his Colt Official Police service revolver fails to slay the giant ant, Peterson runs and gets a M1928 Thompson from his patrol car. Agent Graham and several soldiers use them in later scenes as well.

Winchester Model 1892

A Winchester Model 1892 is found at Gramps Johnson's (Matthew McCue) store with the barrel bent in half. It was mistakenly said later that Gramps fired .30-30s at the ants but the Model 92 was never chambered for .30-30. You can tell it is a '92 by looking at the short receiver, loading gate, and saddle ring.
