Blued

Is there any reason why the 4506-1 varient has an blued hammer and trigger?--Oliveira 15:59, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Only the newer production 4506s (and all of the metal-framed guns) have that. My older-model 4506-1 has a stainless hammer and trigger. Usually when firearms manufacturers expand their production, the quality of the weapons suffers as the manufacturer cuts corners to save production costs. The lack of a stainless finish on the controls of later S&W pistols is an indication of this. You can also see it in the case of Inox finish Berettas (the current Inox pistols have black controls, to cut production costs). -MT2008
So stainless steel costs more. Damm.--Oliveira 19:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Two tone SIGs used to have all stainless parts. The only part of the gun that was blued was the frame, but all the little parts and the slide were stainless. Now the only part that is stainless is the slide, while the frame and the other little parts are blued. SIG also used to make all stainless pistols, but they don't do that anymore, according to their website. -Gunman69 01:29, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Combination

Would combining the 4516 and 4566 articles with this one be a good idea? I realize the weapons are different but not much more so than the variants of the Beretta 92 series or the H&K USP series and those share articles. Just a thought I had. -Anonymous

I've been wanting to do that, but I've never figured out how to combine pages lol. -Gunman69 04:38, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
I considered doing it but wasn't sure what to include: 4505, 4516, 4556, 457. I think the last one is a second generation model but I'm not sure.

I do would consider the first 3.--Dillinger 21:20, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. -Gunman69 05:54, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
