Sam Shepard with his son Jesse doing a little backyard target shooting. It appears that they are shooting a Smith & Wesson Model 586 with the 6" barrel. The 586 was introduced in 1981 and Jesse was born in 1970. I place the photo at around 1982/83. Note the holster on Sam Shepard's right hand side.
