Six M40A1C Recoilless Rifles on an M50 "Ontos" light tank - 106x607mmR with four Remington M8C spotting rifles - .50 BAT (12.7x77 mm). It is also armed with a Browning M1919A4.

Still in service?

Wiki and this site imply the M40 is still in service, but is it really? I've never heard of it being used anytime recently and i can't see how it could somehow stick around this long without showing up in Iraq or Afganistan.--Mandolin (talk) 18:29, 5 January 2018 (EST)

While it's not been in frontline service since the 70s (forgot to change that field), as far as I can tell there's still enough of them in inventory that they affected the designation of the M40 sniper rifle. There's always a little confusion because of the question of who it's in service with: these are one of the go-to weapons for arming technicals because they're big, powerful and any idiot can make ammo for them.
