I've been searching for years to find an M2 or M2A1-7 Flamethrower and I've never been able to find one is at least decent condition (I don't want to be the thing on thats on fire) and I know their legal in most southern states, including Florida. I mainly have two questions.

1. Why are they so rare and almost impossible to find? (Did Movie Companies buy most of them before the average man even thought about buying one?)

2. If possible, where would the average man be most likely find one? (In Good Condition) - Kilgore 20:03, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

- I imagine the ones in good condition that movie armories didn't buy (which was probably very few to begin with) are still kept in military inventory. Just a thought. StanTheMan 21:48, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

But where do have a chance of finding one. A few may used in arctic and sub-arctic regions (ass-end of nowhere) to burn the ice off of aircrafts, but I can't go that far north for an 60 year-old flamethrower. - Kilgore 21:54, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

- Well, I didn't say there were used, just that they were probably in inventory, sitting there in case we ever do need to use 'em. You know, like nukes. That said, I imagine it would be pretty damn hard to get a flamethrower that's in good operating condition, as I don't think they're really selling any as such. I guess they're just thinking 'Who the hell's gonna buy a live flamethrower? (legitimately, anyway)' In any case, outside of surplus military sale (where said FTs would most likely be deactivated as weapons), I don't think you'll be able to buy one unless someone else who owns one comes off. I think the other thing you should keep in mind, aside from how hard it is to locate such a weapon, is maintenance. If it is as difficult as you say to find a complete system how hard is it going to be to locate parts to keep the thing going? The tanks, hoses and firing mechanisms are probably just as rare individually as they are complete. --Charon68 02:27, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Does anybody know the dimensions of the M2 flame thrower? Like what the diameter of the back tanks are?
