While the flash suppressor here is oft referred to as a 'birdcage' type, it is most certainly not a muzzle break. "Flash suppressor" or "flash hider" are acceptable. This piece does no braking (notice 'brake' is the proper spelling) when the rifle is fired. Also, as the early flash suppressors are radially symmetrical, it would also be unreasonable to suggest it causes any compensating effect.
