F.I.E. Brute shotgun.

F.I.E. (Firearms Import & Export) of Hialeah, FL / Opa-Locka, Fl. (Miami) was a Florida based importer of cheap Brazilian guns that went out of business in 1990. Their weapons were not only inexpensive, but rather poorly constructed. The Brute was built until 1984. What is interesting about these Side by Side shotguns is that they were full length shotguns originally, but the company sawed off the barrels and sawed off (and finished) the buttstocks to just a hair over the legal total length for a shotgun per American Federal gun laws. With the buttstock so short, the barrel length of the FIE Side by Side was 19 inches to maintain legal overall length. The cost for one of these shotguns was under $200 and they have absolutely no collector value. A later successor, the "S.O.B." (Son Of Brute) was a single barrel shotgun that got the same treatment.
