From what I recall, the AKs were obvious Chinese Type 56 rifles, especially during the attack on the squatter's camp.
DVD release
Yeah, I noticed that they did not release a DVD of the mini-series. But to anyone who actually watched the show, 'dragging the story out' was an understatement. They had four nights to fill and maybe one actual night of show of content, so the story was so incredibly slow and took forever to do anything. IMHO.
