The Substitute (1996)

The Substitute is a 1996 action film starring Tom Berenger as a mercenary who poses as a substitute teacher at the high school that his girlfriend teaches to find out why she was attacked. The film would spawn a series of direct to video sequels that starred Treat Williams in a similar role.

Handguns

Smith & Wesson Sigma 9F

Mercenary John Shale (Tom Berenger) is seen using an Smith & Wesson Sigma 9F when confronting Juan Lacas and his guys in the school. At the time this film was made, the Sigma was new to the market and it appears that whenever the pistol is seen fired, a Glock was substituted.

Glock 17

On the shooting range, Wellman (Richard Brooks) is seen firing a Glock 17. It also appears that a Glock is seen several times instead of what is supposed to be the Sigma.

Lacas' henchman holds the Glock in the school library (he had been holding the Sigma in the previous scene).

Walther PPK/S

Juan Lacas (Marc Anthony) is seen carrying a Walther PPK/S as his main handgun. He is also seen using it with a suppressor (lacking a threaded barrel to accept said suppressor).

Walther PPK/S stainless - 9mm Kurz aka 9x17mm (.380 ACP)

Juan Lacas (Marc Anthony) holds the Walther PPK/S when entering the school library.

Lacas attaches the suppressor to his PPK/S. This shouldn't be possible because the pistol lacked a threaded barrel to accept said suppressor.

SIG-Sauer P226 (Nickel)

A nickel SIG-Sauer P226 is the sidearm of Hollan (William Forsythe). This is also the pistol used by Lacas' henchman as well as seen in the hands of the school librarian.

A merc employed by Janus holds the SIG.

A security guard at the school is seen holding a Heckler & Koch P9S.

Beretta 92FS

One of Lacas' guys is seen holding a Beretta 92FS while holding Shale hostage. Shale also handles the pistol.

On the shooting range, Joey Six (Raymond Cruz) is seen firing a Beretta 92FS Inox.

Beretta 92FS Inox - 9x19mm. This pistol was the screen used gun, used throughout the film by Det. Max Kirkpatrick (William Baldwin) and once by Kate McQuean (Cindy Crawford) in the film Fair Game.

Uzi

Both Shale and Rem (Luis Guzmán) are seen using full size Uzi's fitted with Sionics suppressors during the final shootout at the school.
