Star Trek: The Next Generation was the television series sequel to the original Star Trek. Set 78 years following the original series, The Next Generation starred Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, a Starfleet officer commanding another Federation starship named Enterprise in the 24th century. The success of this series would lead to several spinoffs, including Deep Space Nine (1993-1999), Voyager (1995-2001), and Enterprise (2001-2005). The cast of The Next Generation would also continue their adventures in four feature films, including Star Trek: First Contact. Most of the firearms featured in the series were seen used in simulations on the ship's Holodeck or when the characters were involved in time travel. Pistols
Colt Single Action Army "Artillery"
In Season 5's finale "Time's Arrow, Part I" (S5E26), an archaeologist shows Captain Picard and Commander Data a 19th-century revolver in a cave beneath San Francisco. Data describes the weapon as a ".45-caliber double-action Cavalry pistol, invented by Colt Firearms in 1873". The description is incorrect as the revolver seen is an "Artillery" model of the Colt Single Action Army (the "Cavalry" model has a longer barrel, see the following section). It is also not a double-action handgun, nor did Colt Firearms make a double-action pistol in 1873. In the second part of that episode, Season 6's premiere "Time's Arrow, Part II" (S6E01), the weapon is held by Samuel Clemens (Jerry Hardin) when he confronts the Enterprise crew in the cave, revealing how it came to be there.
In Season 6's "A Fistful of Datas" (S6E08), Counselor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), Commander Data (Brent Spiner), and holographic outlaw Eli Hollander (John Pyper-Ferguson) all carry the "Artillery" model of the Colt Single Action Army.
Colt Single Action Army "Cavalry"
In Season 6's "A Fistful of Datas" (S6E08), a "Cavalry" model of the Single Action Army is mainly used by Lt. Worf (Michael Dorn) during a holodeck simulation of the Old West.
Colt Detective Special
In Season 1's "The Big Goodbye" (S1E12), Cyrus's holographic henchman takes a Colt Detective Special revolver off a detective. In the Season 2 episode "The Royale", a hotel bellboy (Leo Garcia) can be seen arming himself with a Colt Detective Special when preparing to confront a Lothario named Mickey D (Gregory Beecroft) over Mickey's girlfriend Rita.
Walther PP
In Season 1's "The Big Goodbye" (S1E12), holographic henchman Felix Leech (Harvey Jason) pulls a stainless Walther PP with pearl grips during one of Captain Picard's Dixon Hill simulations. Due to a computer malfunction, the holodeck's safeguards are deactivated and Leech shoots and critically wounds a crewman, on the orders of his holographic boss, Cyrus Redblock (Lawrence Tierney).
Colt M1911A1
In Season 1's "The Big Goodbye" (S1E12), one of Cyrus Redblock's henchmen can be seen armed with an M1911A1, holding it on the protagonists. After Cyrus is defeated, Data (Brent Spiner) takes the weapon from him and uses his superhuman strength to pinch the muzzle shut. In the Season 2 episode "The Royale" (S2E12), Mickey D. (Gregory Beecroft) is armed with an M1911A1, this one having a nickel finish with ivory grips, using it to shoot a bellboy in the back.
Luger P08
A miner in Data's dream wields what appears to be a Luger P08 pistol to shoot Sigmund Freud in "Phantasms" (S7E06).

Double Barreled Shotgun
In Season 6's "A Fistful of Datas" (S6E08), Commander Data (Brent Spiner), whose likeness has been grafted onto a holographic Mexican gunfighter, wields a 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun.
Rifles
Charleville Musket
In Season 2's "Hide And Q", the beast-soldiers created by Q (John de Lancie) appear to be armed with Charleville Muskets that fire explosive energy bolts instead of lead balls. The weapons are also fitted with bayonets, which are seen used by the Enterprise away team when the soldiers overwhelm them.
Winchester Model 1873
The Winchester Model 1873 is used by Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) in "A Fistful of Datas" (S6E08).
Submachine Guns
M1928 Thompson
In Season 2's "Manhunt" (S2E19), Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) is playing one of his Dixon Hill mystery simulations when a simulated gangster (Robert Costanzo) bursts into his office brandishing an M1928 Thompson, the startled Picard ducks and yells for the computer to freeze the simulation before the gangster can open fire, even though he wouldn't have been harmed due to the holodeck's safeguards.
Other
"2079" Weapons
In the series premiere "Encounter at Farpoint" (S1E01), Picard and his crew find themselves in a "kangaroo court" in the year 2079, after the effects of a "post-atomic horror" on Earth. Seen are futuristic soldiers armed with forearm-mounted weapons. These appear to be props, but they do emit what appears to be a gas-powered muzzle flash and have sound effects suggesting a projectile weapon being chambered.
