The Smith & Wesson 622 is a pistol in .22 Long Rifle calibre designed primarily for sports and recreational purposes. It has an alloy frame and a stainless steel slide, as opposed to the completely stainless steel Model 2206.
The blued version is called Model 422 and has been in production 1987 – 1996. In 1996 a supposed successor model was produced, Model 622-VR, but production seized already that same year. This model is characterized by a strongly accentuated ventilated rib.
