The Seventh Victim (Das siebente Opfer; English DVD release title The Racetrack Murders) is a 1964 German detective movie directed by Franz Josef Gottlieb and based a novel "Murder Is Not Enough" by Bryan Edgar Wallace (son of better known Edgar Wallace). Lord John Mant (Walter Rilla) owns a horse that is the favourite of the upcoming Royal Ascot horse race. But there are people who want to prevent the victory of Lord John's horse at any cost, including murder.

The film is the sixth installment in the CCC Filmproduktion studio film series (1962-1972), based on the works of Bryan Edgar Wallace.

A Vis wz. 35 is used by Reverend Turner (Hans Nielsen).

In the opening scene a suppressed Vis is used to kill a musician who knew too much. The mockup sound suppressor is in fact an adapter for launching the signal flares, used on Arminius HW-1 revolver.

Turner cocks his pistol in the climactic scene.

He holds Ed Ranova at gunpoint.

Turner threatens Avril Mant.

Shotguns

Double Barreled Shotgun

A Double Barreled Shotgun is used as a trap in Avril Mant's room.

The shotgun is hidden behind a tulle curtain.

The trap worked.

Harpoon Gun

Reverend Turner (Hans Nielsen) uses a harpoon gun to commit a murder. Actually, shooting a speargun on land hardly would be practical, much less lethal.

Lighter Pistol

When Irving (Peter Vogel) finds Brooks' assistant Molly Dobson (Trude Herr) searching Lord Mant's documents, he aims a pocket pistol at her. Then the gun turns out to be a lighter pistol.

Irving enters the room with his pistol in hand.

Irving interrogates Molly under the threat of the gun.

Molly disarms Irving...

...and now holds him at gunpoint.

But the pistol turns out to be a lighter.
