Seven Dials Mystery (1981) (Note that John Gielgud's image on this DVD cover appears to be from Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, where he played a vicar.)

Seven Dials Mystery is a 1981 British television adaptation of Agatha Christie's 1929 novel of the same name. This was the second Agatha Christie novel adapted by London Weekend Television following 1980's Why Didn't They Ask Evans?. Both share actors John Gielgud and James Warwick, but they play different characters.

The following weapons were used in the film Seven Dials Mystery:

Colt M1911

Jimmy Thesiger (James Warwick) has his butler buy him an automatic pistol, which turns out to be a Colt M1911. (Apparently that's all it took back in the day.) He names his pistol "Leopold" and refers to it as a "blue-nosed automatic." Superintendent Battle (Harry Andrews) refers to it as a "Colt Automatic."

Note the lack of frame cuts around the trigger and the straight backstrap, indicating it is an original M1911.

1914 Mauser Pocket Pistol

Sir Oswald Coote (Leslie Sands) finds a fired 1914 Mauser Pocket Pistol on the lawn. Superintendent Battle refers to it as a "Mauser 7.65."
