Sergeant York is a 1941 movie about life of Sergeant Alvin York from 1915 to 1919. Gary Cooper plays Alvin York as his life struggles between religious convictions and patriotism. York is a simple back woods fram boy from Kentucky when he is thrown into the First World War. Taking the bull by the horns he leads his men during a battle in which he captures a 132 German soldiers during the Battle of Argonne. He is then awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Argonne.

Luger P08 Pistol
Originally, Sgt. Alvin York used his M1911 sidearm while taking cover in a crater, but .45 blanks were too hard to aquire for filming so they simply had Cooper liberate Luger P08 s off of dead German soldiers.
