SIG MKMS
In the early thirties, the Schweizerishe Industrie-Gesellshaft (SIG) company in Neuhausen designed a family of submachine guns. A military version, the MKMO (Maschinen Karbiner Militärmodell Oben), was first introduced in 1933, followed by a short-barreled police version, the MKPO. In 1935, SIG created the simplified versions MKMS (Maschinen Karabiner Militärmodell Seitlich) and MKPS respectively, that used simple blowback action with a one-piece bolt (the first version had delayed blowback action). 1,228 submachine guns of all four versions were made in total, issued to Swiss police, Finnish military (282 MKMS, of those 242 in 9mm caliber and the rest in 7.65mm) and Vatican Swiss guards. Most SMGs were manufactured in 7.65x21 and 9x19 calibers.
Note 1: "Seitlich" and "Oben" mean "Side Ejection" and "Top Ejection".
Note 2: some sources claim that the version with delayed blowback action is called the MKMS/MKPS, and the version with simple blowback action is known as the MKMO/MKPO, but academic books provided blueprints that prove such a naming scheme was never used.
