He appeared as Munch in a total of ten television series, including the original Law & Order, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, The X-Files, The Beat, Arrested Development and The Wire, as well as 30 Rock (although in that particular series he was portraying himself portraying the SVU character). His portrayal of Munch for nearly 22 consecutive seasons (7 on Homicide and 14 on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) had Belzer also surpassing the record for the most consecutive seasons portraying the same character on a primetime series (until it was surpassed by his SVU co-star Mariska Hargitay).
