Plato (Sal Mineo) takes a nickel plated colt 1903 pocket hammer with pearl grips from his mother's bed. He uses it in the abandoned house, and Jim stark (James Dean) removes the magazine from the pistol in the films climax. It should be noted that dispite Jim's failure to eject a round from the chamber of the 1903, the hammer is down after the magazine is removed, meaning that there could not be a round in the pistol.
