French pinfire break-action pistol of unknown manufacturer, circa 1870 - 15.2mm pinfire
Pinfire double barreled pistol, Belgian manufacture - .58 caliber

Pinfire cartridge, invented by Casimir Lefaucheux, quickly became popular in various types of firearms, including shotguns, revolvers, pepperbox revolvers and pistol. Pinfire pistols were simpler and cheaper than revolvers and found some usage as pocket, duelling and sporting guns. While produced by various manufacturers, they were commonly referred as Lefaucheux pistols.
