Next of Kin is a 1989 action thriller starring Patrick Swayze as a Chicago police officer whose Appalachian roots are brought forth when one of his brothers is killed by a member of the Mob. He then finds that his other brother has come to the city in order to find the killer. The film's cast includes Liam Neeson, Adam Baldwin, Bill Paxton, Ben Stiller, and Helen Hunt.

Truman Gates (Patrick Swayze) carries a Beretta 92F in a nickel finish in his left holster throughout the film. An M1911A1 is seen in the hands of a mob hitman sent to the apartment where Briar Gates (Liam Neeson) was staying.

Joey Rosellini (Adam Baldwin) is seen using a Desert Eagle during a confrontation with Truman's brother (Bill Paxton). He also uses this gun during the shootout at the Lake Michigan Vending Company.
