A yellow-capped 7 second fuze, meant for the [[Hafthohlladung]] magnetic mine, could also be used. 1-second (red), meant for smoke signals, and instant (grey) fuzes, meant to ignite safety fuze, could be used to booby-trap the grenade.

In addition to the single throw, the stick grenade could also be used as a concentrated charge or as a stretched charge. Thus, they were used in bunker warfare or to blow up wire obstacles. In the ''Geballte Ladung'', five or six hand grenade pots were tied around a stick hand grenade located in the center. When this hand grenade was ignited, the bundle was detonated. To make a stretched charge, hand grenade pots were attached to a board or strong branch at 15-centimeter intervals. A stick hand grenade with a longer breakaway cord was attached to the end.

Model 43 Stielhandgranate high-explosive fragmentation hand grenade.
Model 43 Stielhandgranate high-explosive hand grenade with fragmentation sleeve.

The Model 43 Stielhandgranate served the same purpose and use as the M24. It was manufactured with a removable and fixed wooden handle. Significant labor savings resulted from the omission of the pierced handle. The ignition channel was attached to the side of the warhead, opposite the handle, and used the same BZE 39 4.5 second (blue cap) fuze as the Model 39. This was later replaced by the BZ 40 fuze, which gave a loud popping sound to alert the thrower that the fuze was now burning. A yellow-capped 7 second fuze, meant for the Hafthohlladung magnetic mine, could also be used. 1-second (red), meant for smoke signals, and instant (grey) fuzes, meant to ignite safety fuze, could be used to booby-trap the grenade.

As with the Model 24, a cast iron reinforcement jacket could be placed around the Model 43. This increased the fragmentation effect of the stick grenade.

In addition to the single throw, the stick grenade could also be used as a concentrated charge or as a stretched charge. Thus, they were used in bunker warfare or to blow up wire obstacles. In the Geballte Ladung, five or six hand grenade pots were tied around a stick hand grenade located in the center. When this hand grenade was ignited, the bundle was detonated. To make a stretched charge, hand grenade pots were attached to a board or strong branch at 15-centimeter intervals. A stick hand grenade with a longer breakaway cord was attached to the end.
