Manhunter is a 1986 thriller directed by Michael Mann and was the first feature film adaptation of the Thomas Harris novel Red Dragon. The film marked the first appearance of the Hannibal Lecter character (named Hannibal Lecktor here and portrayed by Brian Cox). The book was later adapted again in 2002 for the film Red Dragon with Anthony Hopkins reprising his Silence of the Lambs version of Lecter.

He's given Glaser Safety Slugs for the Bulldog for a "guaranteed one-shot stop". He pulls the Bulldog during the sting operation as well in the final confrontation with Francis Dollarhyde (Tom Noonan). In the book, it is described as having a Mag-Na-Ported barrel, bobbed hammer, and a "good set of fat grips".
