Lupin III (ルパン三世, Rupan Sansei) is a successful manga series in Japan by manga author Monkey Punch. The series, which belongs to the Seinen genre, is about the adventures of Arsène Lupin III and his companions. Lupin III is the grandson of the famous master thief Arsène Lupin from the novels of Maurice Leblanc. In addition to the manga, numerous anime adaptations have also been produced.

Like his grandfather, Lupin III is a master thief and earns his living by stealing valuable objects. Lupin is always accompanied by his old acquaintance Daisuke Jigen, a master marksman. Another companion is the beauty Fujiko Mine, whom Lupin has been hopelessly in love with since their first meeting. Although she occasionally works with Lupin and his group, she usually manages to rake in the loot alone, leaving the others out in the cold. The last of the bunch includes Goemon Ishikawa XIII, a Japanese samurai and master swordsman. Goemon is in possession of the Almighty Sword, which can effortlessly cut through anything in the world.
