Lewis is a British detective drama TV series, a spin-off of Inspector Morse series. Robert "Robbie" Lewis (Kevin Whately), Morse's sergeant in the original series, is promoted to DI and continued his work in the Thames Valley Police. In the latest series, Lewis had retired from the police, but is brought back as a consultant. Stories are mostly set in Oxford, often connected with the University of Oxford.

The following weapons were used in the television series Lewis:

Revolvers

Smith & Wesson Model 10HB

In "Reputation" (Pilot episode) Danny Griffon (Charlie Cox) owns a Smith & Wesson Model 10HB revolver that is used as a murder weapon several times throughout the episode. Dr. Laura Hobson correctly identifies it a .38 gun.

Smith & Wesson Model 60

In the opening scene in "Old School Ties" (S01E02) an Oxford student Jo Gilchrist (Frances Albery) gets a Smith & Wesson Model 60 revolver as a birthday present. David Harvey (James Russell) who gifted the revolver claims that it was his grandfather's wartime gun (which is obviously wrong for Model 60).

Enfield No. 2 Mk.I

In the climactic scene in "The Dead of Winter" (S04E01) Paul Hopkiss (Pip Carter), the butler in Mortmaigne's estate, raises an Enfield No. 2 Mk I revolver at DI Lewis. (Really, "The butler did it"!)

Flintlock Pistol

In the opening scene in "The Dead of Winter" (S04E01) one of English Civil War reenactors hold what appears to be a Flintlock Pistol.

Shotguns

Over and Under Shotgun

In "Reputation" (Pilot episode) Rex Griffon (Jack Ellis), Mr. Tanigaki (Dennis Matsuki) and several other Griffon Cars executives and their Japanese visitors use Over and Under Shotguns for skeet shooting.

Double Barreled Shotgun

Richie Maguire (David Hayman) fires a Double Barreled Shotgun in several scenes in "Counter Culture Blues" (S03E04). A double barreled shotgun is seen next to the dead body of Ralph Grahame (Jonty Stephens) in "The Dead of Winter" (S04E01); two more shotguns are seen in Grahame's house. A large number of double barreled shotguns is seen in "Entry Wounds: Part 1" (S08E01) when police confiscated Gillian Fernsby's (Anna Carteret) and Tom Marston's (Aden Gillett) guns for investigation. Gillian Fernsby is also seen with a shotgun. Sam Langton (Bobby Lockwood) holds a shotgun in the opening scene in "Magnum Opus: Part 1" (S09E03) and in the final scene in "Magnum Opus: Part 2" (S09E04).

Muskets

Matchlock Musket

In the opening scene in "The Dead of Winter" (S04E01) English Civil War reenactors widely use Matchlock Muskets. During the event one of the muskets fires a live bullet which is hardly possible for a weapon, used by reenactors.

Rifles

Bolt Action Rifle

Several bolt action rifles, some with sniper scopes, are seen on shooting range in "Dark Matter" (S04E02). They are used by Isobel Crompton (Sophie Ward) and Kate Cameron (Ruby Thomas). In the climactic scene Babs Temple (Annabelle Apsion) holds a rifle. Police expert claims the rifles to be of .22 caliber. Several bolt action rifles with sniper scopes are seen in "Entry Wounds: Part 1" (S08E01); one of these guns, a murder weapon, is seen tested in ballistic lab.

Marlin Model 336

What appears to be a Marlin Model 336 carbine is also seen on shooting range in "Dark Matter" (S04E02).

Various rifles

A pair of rifles, together with several shotguns, is seen in Tom Marston's (Aden Gillett) gun safe in "Entry Wounds: Part 1" (S08E01). Second from the left rifle appear to have an underbarrel tube magazine. It's hard to say if this rifle is lever action (as many of long guns with tube magazines) as the sling prevents to see the trigger guard and the bottom part of the receiver.

Four shotguns and two rifles (at the left) in Tom Marston's gun safe. The one with tube magazine is marked with red arrow. Barely seen rifle at the far left appears to be the bolt action rifle that is a murder weapon.

Assault Rifles

Heckler & Koch G36C

In the opening scene in "Generation of Vipers" (S06E02) officers of Armed Response Unit are armed with Heckler & Koch G36C compact assault rifles during the operation on marijuana farm. In "Beyond Good and Evil: Part 2" (S08E06) officers of Armed Response Unit carry G36C in the scene in Graham Lawrie's apartments and during the arrest of the murderer.

Heckler & Koch HK53

An armed police officer carries a Heckler & Koch HK53 compact assault rifle during the search of runaway suspect Tom Marston (Aden Gillett) in "Entry Wounds: Part 1" (S08E01). The usage of HK53 is slightly incorrect: of all territorial police forces in England only Cumbria Constabulary's firearms unit has HK53 while Thames Valley Police acts in the series.

Trivia

Cannons

Several small muzzleloading field cannons are used by English Civil War reenactors in the opening scene in "The Dead of Winter" (S04E01).

A cannon fires. Another cannon, on large wheels, is seen at the background, partially covered by smoke.

Gun Poster

A snub nose revolver, generally similar to Smith & Wesson models, is seen on a poster, calling on local residents to inform the police.

Gun-related plot twist

SPOILERS.jpg WARNING! Major spolier ahead! Highlight to see description.

In "Entry Wounds: Part 1" (S08E01) a rifle is fired in a large volume of water so the bullet is undamaged. Then the bullet is inserted in 12 gauge case and fired from a shotgun, killing the victim. Ballistic expert identified the bullet as fired from rifle, while this particular weapon cannot be used for the murder.
