La Haine (Hate) is a 1995 French drama written, and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz starring Vincent Cassel, Saïd Taghmaoui and Hubert Koundé as disenfranchised youth living in the projects outside of Paris.

Vinz (Vincent Cassel) carries a snub-nosed Smith & Wesson Model 629 for much of the film. It is described as a "snub-nosed Smith & Wesson Magnum 44" and as a stolen police weapon. He allows his friends Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui) and Hubert (Hubert Koundé) to handle it as well. "Asterix" (François Levantal) pretends to play Russian Roulette with it.
