It starred [[David James Elliott]] as Commander Harmon Rabb, Jr., a naval aviator, who after being diagnosed with night blindness, became a lawyer in the JAG Corps. The executive producer of the show was Donald Bellisario, who created such popular action shows of the 1980s as ''[[Magnum, P.I.]]'' and ''[[Airwolf]]''. In 2003, JAG introduced characters who later would appear in the spinoff show ''[[NCIS]]''.
