Harper

Harper (1966)

Harper is a 1966 film directed by Jack Smight starring Paul Newman as Lew Harper, a private investigator reminiscent of Raymond Chandler stories. Harper is thrown into a case of kidnapping that escalates to murder as he works with high society and low lifes in Los Angeles. The poster depicts an M1911 derivative as "Harper's gun", when, in actuality, he carries a Colt Detective Special throughout and no semi-automatic pistols are even seen on screen.
