GSh-6-30 (AO-18) rotary gun in an AK-630 naval installation - 30x165mm
Twin GSh-6-30 (AO-18K) rotary guns in a Kashtan naval installation - 30x165mm

The Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-6-30 is a heavy 30mm rotary gun used on the MiG-27 aircraft, and fitted to some Su-25TM (Su-39) ground attack aircraft, later replaced with the Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-2. In naval use it is known as the AO-18; this variant uses water cooling and has longer barrels, and is used in the AK-630 CIWS installation (an air-cooled version, the AK-306, is used on smaller ships), while the improved AO-18K is used as the gun armament of the Kashtan CIWS system.

The aircraft version is infamous for damaging aircraft it is mounted to, with the first 25-round burst from a testbed MiG-23BM resulting in the shutdown of all avionics and MiG-27s returning a series of horror stories about engine failures, smashed landing lights, jammed landing gear doors and even in-flight explosions.
