This feature marked the beginning of the Warner Bros. "MonsterVerse," which includes 2017's Kong: Skull Island, the 2019 sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters in addition to the 2021 crossover film Godzilla vs. Kong, which pitted the kaiju against perhaps his most famous rival.
