This appears to me to be the Smith and Wesson Sigma pistol. The Sigma was smith and wesson;'s attempt to enter the polymer gun market and compete with glock. They were orignially avaiable only in black, but then S&W rolled out E and V versons, for Economy and Value, that used grey plastic. They were cheap, but ugly. Avaiable in .40, I believe also in 9mm, but this was during the magazine capacity limit, so 10 shot 9mms just weren't selling.

They eventually came out with a VE version (value and economy?) that is duo-toned, stainless steel slide on black polymer frame, which looks pretty nice. After the silly law expired and we could go back to regular sized magazines, the 9mm version became very popular with it's 17 round capacity and very reasonable price.
